Things to Do

At the Haven

The stately main house sits on 23 acres of rolling meadow along the lovely Guadalupe River. Peace and quiet await you deep in the heart of Texas Hill Country. The Inn is a great place to relax in a rocking chair on our spacious veranda, enjoy a swim in our inviting pool, read a good book under our grape arbor, listen to the soothing waterfall by our lily pond, picnic in our unique petrified gazebo, or stroll among pecan trees by the peaceful river.

Many guests say our long stretch along the Guadalupe River, and access to it, make the river one of the best parts of staying at the Haven. A concrete dam crosses the river, creating a beautiful small waterfall. Even when the river is fuller and the current faster, there are areas of water where the whole family can swim. Adjacent to the dam is a large concrete patio area for groups or families with small children, so one can enjoy the river fun without actually being in it. Exploring the river among numerous side pools and cutting your own bamboo fishing pole are fun activities for the younger set. Fishing, tubing, and kayaking or canoeing are popular; ask the innkeepers for the current status of the river and for information on renting inflatable tubes or water craft.

Please be advised there is no lifeguard on duty and all water-related activities are performed at one's own risk.

Please keep in mind the following is just a smattering of places to visit and things to do in the area; there are also numerous seasonal festivals and events to enjoy.
